Little vandals

New condos and houses are being built along our entrance road home.  Dropped by one day just to 'kepoh' (be nosy).  Inside the showhouse was this room decked out like a painting room.  The girls discovered it while I was looking into other rooms.

Painting stuff!

Let's paint!

Be happy like me hehe

I looked to see if it was ok to use the paints and decided it was fine.  Until one young staff there finally showed up at the small room and was dumbfounded at the 'additional decorations'.  So we quickly hightailed it out of there.  Well actually I called out to SE few times but she didn't come.  Instead she stayed in there for a good 15mins or so with that unfortunate young staff tailing her from room to room while she continued touching this and that.  Finally I went in to retrieve her.  And later she told me it wasn't so fun because "this person keep on following me".

Hubby asked how come I didn't realise they weren't supposed to paint??  Well too bad he being so smart didn't watch her closely.  :p

I wonder if they have cleaned the room up.  JE is embarrassed when we pass by this place and I remind her of it hehe.

Toothpaste blobs

I'd been buying Kodomo toothpaste for the kids.  Until recently when my mum reminded that JE should be using adult toothpaste already.  Googled and oops, yes supposed to change when permanent teeth come in!  That happened 2 years already for JE and is happening for SE now.

Kiddos don't like mint toothpaste though.  And I have stocks of Kodomo.

So... now every morning and night, I diligently put TWO little blobs of toothpaste on each toothbrush - one blob of Kodomo and one of Colgate/Darlie.  Labour of love haha.

Four blobs of toothpaste and two tooth-mugs of water

The plan is to get the girls used to mint.  Then no more Kodomo.

SE's weekly packing

We need to haul our stuff every week between home and apartment. Kiddos aren't too useful in helping.  Especially SE.  She'd be fussing over this and that.  And look at what she has to bring:

Toys inside BeeBee, check.
Raspberry (the white bunny in crook of arm), check.
Toys inside penguin bag, check.
Pink whale hanging on penguin bag, check.
Bunnyball in pocket of penguin bag, check.

Let me think...

Yep, I'm ready

No capacity at all to help with anything of importance!

Spotted this promo online and purposely went to Italiannies.  :)

This exceeded my expectations that the pizza was given on top of the free kids meal.  I'd assumed the pizza would replace the meal.  Also didn't expect the staff to be so attentive throughout the session.

We are suited up and ready!

Take the sauce and swirl it round

They were given various condiments... sauce, cheese, mushroom, carrot cubes, pineapple.  Well not that many but good enough.  MY girls didn't want to put pineapple since they didn't like those.  Nor mushroom.  I had to try hard to get them to put everything (since it's free haha) and only partially succeeded.

Almost done

Went back to our table for lunch.  In the meantime the pizzas were baked and served when done.

Can eat already!

Good experience indeed.

When the little one is in a rage, she's like a predator.

You have angered me

I will be right here

Be afraid. Very afraid.

I'm also afraid actually.

Genting Part 2

What did we do at Genting?  First, hubby threw RM300 at the arcades. Hahhaa.  Well it was RM10 a pop at the various stalls thus the money flew quickly (with nothing to show for it either).  Then hubby had to try his luck getting little toys from machine games.  This had slightly better returns compared to the stalls but I was like... thought the kids were supposed to be playing and not YOU??  So he bought another card for them and they managed to get some action.

Shoot! Shoot! (Fish toy between them being the first of arcade toys)

We hadn't walked around all the sections before. Was quite nice to meander around looking at this and that.

Since it wasn't regular school holidays, Genting wasn't too crowded. Got the day pass for the indoor theme park.  I noticed a few rehashed rides from the old days when JE was small.  They had strict height limits though and even SE couldn't get to ride those any more.

Check out our horses!

And our car!

One thing even without crowds, it does take quite some time to get to the actual ride. The process to scan in, people choosing the horse/car/carriage etc and getting in/on, the staff going round to check the safety belts.  The kids were thrilled, the adults were EXHAUSTED haha.  There weren't that many benches to sit on while waiting.  Neither hubby nor me are into rides so we didn't get passes for ourselves.

Yay we got cotton candy!

The kids mostly went on rides separately.  JE liked the sky tower one which SE was too scared to try.  SE went on this ferris wheel all by herself.  Actually I was rather scared for her.  This ride is very high - what if she fiddled with the door and managed to open it while her car was at the top?  She was alone in the car.  There was a parent-and-child queuing up with SE but the ride attendant motioned them to the next car.  And the wheel kept stopping to let people in and out of cars, meaning those near the top would stay high for quite some time. I watched, heart in the mouth, throughout the 2 full rounds that constituted a ride.

Hello mummy!

Finally the ride finished.  SE said it was scary but fun.  And she wanted to go again.  Hahaha.  Well I let her go once more.  And then decided better not to test luck too many times plus it was past time to go home. Sooo tired from this trip.  (Some more traffic was terrible going home and next day was a school day.  Gahh)

Genting trip 2019

The kids were off from school couple weeks back since classrooms were needed for the UPSR exams.  Well, extra holiday then!  Genting this time.  First thing we noticed upon arrival, our favourite makan place Bubbles n Bytes had closed.  Sigh.

Gone are the days hubby was a big gambler and got free stays at suites.  Our first time staying at First World (luckily for free).  Oh no photos... the girls were at first comparing the size of the room, there being no bathtub, having a view into other rooms of the hotel.  Later they settled down to iPads while snacking and the room got too messy to take photos heh.  Guess it wasn't too bad really.

Hmm are you looking at us??

Mummy says if we stay in a different room every night, we can stay 20 years!

I had been looking forward to the food.  Eat we did.  Motorino for pizza (nice lah but way pricier than Bubbles and Bytes), buffet lunch at Coffee Terrace, dimsum at Wan Hoi and Oversea, Go Noodles (never a queue at the Genting outlet).

Pizza... ok it's quite good also

Gonna whack my piggy bun

It was Mooncake festival so we got to see the mooncake deco.

Sit on this giant mooncake stool

No pushing no pushing!

Theme was quite nicely done.  Then again I always have a soft spot for bunny rabbits. :)  The kids had fun posing with these statues...

This bunny is the cutest

Mooncake festival

This year Mooncake festival was both good and not-so.  The good:  Kids had lots of lanterns!  Hubby spotted a kiosk selling traditional lanterns and took them to choose theirs.  So good to see the wire-and-cellophane paper ones.  The kids made their selections and then were more interested in playing with those that had lights, movements and music.  How to fight technology... sigh.  Refused to buy any of these new 'mutants'.

Hubby couldn't resist getting a couple of extras.  Kids also made one at their art class:

Lots of lanterns!

I really like this butterfly one (think butterflies weren't one of the designs during my childhood days).  It has antenna, pretty designs and even little yellow bits at the end of the wings.

We both have fish!

Our lanterns

So lanterns, check.  Mooncakes, check.  Then when the actual festival rolled by... HAZE.  Haha.

At least hubby lit up the lanterns and the kids still had a chance to play.  On THREE different days.  Lanterns not wasted then hehe.

And this is what the girls look like with their new specs.  Both frames seem to be slightly large for their faces.  But I think quite nice actually.

Day trip to Ulu Yam

The kids had a whole long weekend where for one reason or another, classes for gymrama/art/swimming were off.  These come very rarely so must take advantage of it. :)

Off we went to Ulu Yam.  It was less than an hours' drive that day.  First was the world of orchids which I had noticed people posting about on FB.  Oh this was nice!  Well done up and green.

We are here!

At the World of Orchids! (Mummy prefers not to say the long word)

Pretty, pretty blooms

The cafe gets a thumbs up from us.  Good coffee, good cakes and this waffle too.  (The assam laksa was average though).  Prices were KL-standard but quality was worth it.  I'd happily visit very often if it was nearer home.  SE announced "This has been a good day!" after happily tucking into the waffle.

Check out my berry waffle with ice-cream

Next destination was supposed to be the guava farm.  But apparently fruits weren't in season until October so this place wasn't open.  Take a few photos since we were there...

We are at the bee farm! No guava today

I'm helping to stir the honey. Very busy you know

Lunch obviously included the signature "lor mee" and fishcake.  Had it at Swee Yen, a shop on this road where every shop seemed to sell the same thing.  No pictures of food hehe.

There was a temple nearby but weather was too hot, didn't bother to go.  Just walked up to this colourful wall in front for a picture.

What's your fav colour?

After that we headed to the waterfall.  Well Waze showed three in the vicinity.  I picked the nearest one even though the other two had the same travel times.  And this was why this nearest one takes the same time to get there.... this one-track road for all of 3 kms!  Rather scary not knowing when an oncoming car would appear round a bendy part of the road.

Fits only ONE lane!

A whole river to play in!

Rock, water, trees... and us

Coke tastes better out here

Kiddos liked the sand too.

Making a sand-castle
Overall a decent day trip.  I wished there were just a couple more places we could go visit.  Or even something to buy.  Hopefully someone sets up something soon.

Art studio

The kiddos just started at this new art place.  SE was especially bad the last few classes at Globalart where she refused to do anything for painting - claimed it was too hard.  Waste money only sigh (RM130 for four 2-hour lessons a month plus various other charges).

So on to this place.  Fees are slightly higher at RM150, but I expected more actually.  Globalart was poky and no-frills, no air-con soit was a bit hot at class.  Art Studio in contrast has a nice spacious wooden floor and it's air-conditioned.  They teach drawing as well as colouring and arts/craft.  The framed art on display are all different, in line with their stated motive to develop creativity in kids.  SE loves looking at these and I have to drag her away to go home!

So far all good signs!  I'm not expecting the girls to be great artists - I myself have few creative bones in my body!  Improving their technical skills is one goal since there's art at school and acing a subject (or at least not struggling at it) is always nice.  Them having fun is another.  And getting them off electronic gadgets for a couple of hours is a third.

Let's see how this goes.

SE: Ahh so tired
JE:  Get up get up
