Cafe

Pre-MCO and a few weeks ago.  We will not be able to dine out for at least 1.5 months with the MCO 3.0 starting tomorrow.  We checked out this new cafe called Wood & Steel.  It was much smaller than expected.  Food wasn't too bad actually.  Still, nothing to shout about and we agreed there was no need to return.  Some nice photos though.

Mmm a peach mojito

Since then we have made mojito mocktails at home.  Quite easy with mint leaves, sugar, soda and lime.

Me and my papa

I never get such nice photos with the kids.  Hubby not a good photographer like me hmmff.  (Okok coz I am not as photogenic)

Posing with Harry Potter

No photos of food as I am never keen on taking photos once food arrives.  Also the only clear shot I have shows people guzzling up food like there was no tomorrow so I will just spare everyone.

Now for patience until we can check out another cafe.

Waiting pets

The girls have tons of toys and these are the current favourites.  The pink blob is JEs and the small black niffler (an imaginary creature from Harry Potter) is SE's.  In the mornings on school days, the girls go to my parents' house and I work from our condo alone.  They will arrange their 'pets' before going.  So during the day, this is the sight that greets me whenever I walk into the bedroom...

Waiting for our owners

I find it quite endearing these are so well taken care of.  What a good life they have, getting to nap all day tucked under a nice blanket.

Easier than real pets for sure!

A scare

Documenting this down and hoping it won't be needed for any serious reference.

It happened once before when SE was in kindergarten.  She'd suddenly blacked out and the maid said she was having a seizure, from what she'd seen in her own family.  I'd spent anxious moments after that hoping this wouldn't recur, that there wouldn't be any calls from her school reporting a dreaded incident.  It has been... (counting) 4 years and nothing.  Phew.

Unfortunately something similar just happened.  I'd taken JE and SE along to get some bubble tea.  We ordered and then went outside the small shop to wait.  Suddenly there was a THUNK.  I looked down and SE was flat on the floor, facing up.  Now how come this little one could just fall like that?  But... she wasn't moving.  I called her name and tried to get her to sit up.  She didn't respond.  Only after a few moments she started to whimper a bit.  Then she said 'got Covid, got Covid' - I was SO thankful to get some reaction.  She was in a cold sweat and weak.  We collected our bubble tea, dragged her across the road (was afraid she'd collapse again halfway) and sat down on the five foot way for some time until she felt better.  Then we made our way back to the car which was some distance away.

SE said she had been feeling normal. Then she was on the floor and Mummy was there.

Hoping against hope that it's nothing serious.

These are Mole's friends

And she can carry on visiting Mole's friends and whatever else she wants to do.

Mother's Day

SE's birthday coincided with Mother's Day for this year.  I didn't think much about the latter so I was totally surprised to receive cards from the girls.  There was one night earlier when they were vigorously barring me from entering the study room.  So they were secretly making these cards haha.

From JE:
The bigger one with a crown is Mummy who has piled on some pounds lately.
She is the smaller one.
Hello!

And on the inside, a popup bunch of flowers.

I love you

From SE, an activity card.
It's a story where to heal the king who had drunk something and gone mad, I had to draw a ladder to enable Popo the hero to reach the bread, join the dots to activate holes appearing in the cheese (SE then drew the holes), drops of water into the soil for lettuce to grow, fire for cooking the chicken.  After all that Popo made a sandwich for the king and healed him.

Activities for Mummy to do

After that only could the page be turned to reveal the message.
From the king:  You saved me and the sandwich was yummy!

Happy Mother's Day!

Later in the day hubby opened a bottle of wine and cut some cheese.

Cheese

A good day indeed, especially since I didn't expect anything!

SE is 9!

Su Ern turned 9 last Sunday!  Right smack in the middle of the sudden MCO though, with no dining out allowed.  She wasn't actually set on dining out so it wasn't a big change anyway.  She wavered between having pasta salad (yes, of all things haha) and fast food.

After ages of deliberating with the big sis, the decision came:
1. Domino's pizza
2. ... with mozzarella sticks (her fav) and salty chicken (JE's fav)
3. ...and unlimited supply of coke
4.  Pizza will be eaten in the living room
5. .... while watching TV.

Well, why not?  Something special that we could easily fulfil.  They were really thrilled at having all this.

Yay pizza, coke and TV!

Happy girl with plate of pizza and mozzarella stick

The pizza-TV lunch was on Sat as we were planning to have a Mother's Day dinner at my parents' house on Sunday.  At the last minute that dinner was called off due to MCO SOP concerns.  So SE got her 2nd-place food wish for Sunday (her actual birthday) lunch.

Yums, pasta salad with sesame seed sauce

After lunch hubby and me hopped over to Jaya Grocer.  SE got her requests fulfilled... good timing haha.  Normally we wouldn't get them so many sweets.

With all my good snacks!

What's a birthday without cake right, for kids.  A big chocolate cake as per her request....
Edit:  "Chocolate" cake was her request.  "Big" size because I had enough loyalty stamps to get a big cake at our neighbourhood bakery.

Blow my 9 candles

Happy birthday to the youngest member of the family!

Who will chop her own cake

Overall it turned out to be a very nice day!

DIY Buka puasa

No buka puasa dinners this year... same as the last.  In my working life I have attended many of those, compony-sponsored of course.  So do a DIY one lah.

Ordered lemang and rendang from Melaka courtesy of the sama-sama lokal promo (50% discount plus free delivery).

I had planned to get bubur lambuk and kuih but it turned out that was their day off.  No worries, replaced with murtabak and kuih instead.

Tadahh!  My mother started eating first and refused to wait for my father - she said the food was so nice cannot wait haha.  The kids weren't too keen.

Hmm nice or not all this

How much do I have to eat?

Overall I enjoyed the change of theme.  The kids... sometimes don't have to bother about them!

Smiling! *fight fight

Still smiling! (and still fighting)

Hehe.
