Oh it's already the sixth day of CNY, better get posting!
This year we acquired a very respectable stash of CNY snacks and cookies. I love having a variety of these to munch on!
We have all these to eat and more in the kitchen
Made only two of them this year - seaweed crackers and peanut cookies. There were some problems with the latter which tasted strongly of baking soda. Oh well my objective, as I frequently tell hubby who would always go for the shortcut of buying everything - is to let the kids have a culture of MAKING stuff. Luckily the cookies tasted better once cooled down.

Huat ah!
For this year, right at the top of the our wishes is hubby's health.
Status: Progress had been steady until about 2 weeks ago when he woke up not feeling well. He was unable to move the muscles he had worked so hard to re-activate, even his 'good' side was affected. He fell a few times when his legs buckled. Went to the hospital again for a MRI scan... turned out there was a swelling at the surgery site while the other side of the brain was fine. Neurosurgeon said swelling is common enough, can be there a few months, some even a few years. Whatever it was, hubby got a course of steroids to consume for 2.5 weeks. Withdrawal symptoms are expected once this finishes but for now, he is back to his normal self. Guess we need to take things one step at a time.
Wow! So many containers of cny goodies! I only bought 4 containers in total. Lolx! Yes I agree on the baking cookies together. I used to bake cookies with my sister and had lots of fun. I don't mind strong baking soda taste in food as I like alkaline Kan sui taste. Good gathering for Lou sang. This year I didn't Lou sang at all. All we have is today and now so take one day at a time and cherish the time. Carpe diem! Stay strong! All the best and may you all have courage! 💪💪💪
ReplyDeleteVery respectable haul! Good thing too as consumption rate has been very high with hubby's constant stream of visitors (more like the same people keep coming lah. Coming and eating haha)
DeleteThanks for your wishes.
I tried to limit the amount of CNY snacks because we all need to watch our weight. Ha ha...but turned out there were more than enough for us to enjoy and forget about our weight until after New Year. Yes, it is good to get the girls involved in cookies making. It is also good bonding time and they will enjoy the end result too. We only lou sang once. Hope your wishes for your hubby's health will all come true. Happy New Year to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteBut CNY is the only time we can get ALL these variety and choices! Haha.
DeleteHappy new year to you.
this year CNY is all about food and gatherings. Alot of catch up to do since the last CNY we did not manage to have gathering/makan-makan, so plenty of makan-makan on this year. I dare not step onto the weighting scale now...LOL! Hope that your hubby's health will improve, wishing you good health and peaceful live. Happy CNY!
ReplyDeleteTrue, last year travel and gathering sizes were still restricted.
DeleteI'm very well aware that it's very difficult for me to lose weight, but but... cannot help eating more!
Tq for the good wishes and happy CNY to you too.
