Oyster trouble

SE had been wanting to try raw oysters.  Finally ordered a half dozen.

Now to find out what this tastes like

JE had oysters before in Japan with hubby - super premium ones topped with uni/sea urchin.  Me and SE had gone back to the hotel earlier.

Oysters again

These oysters were fine but we confirmed none of us are big fans.

The following night, I had the worst vomiting-plus-diarrhoea episode in my life!  JE and SE had some stomach issues as well (fortunately far milder) so we narrowed down the cause to these oysters.  I'm surprised at the impact of just 2 oysters 1.5 days after consumption, on a stomach which is normally pretty tough.

I'm going to be very wary of raw oysters from now on!

  1. So lovely to see your post and photos, Stacy! I used to eat oysters when I was much younger....like in my 20s. To be honest, I have forgotten how they taste. I will be 70 later this month.
Time goes by so quickly! I am so sorry you were ill. Vomiting and diarrhea are our body's way of getting rid of something in our bodies that is not good for us!
I hope you are feeling better, it is not fun to be sick.
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. Ya last time my sil also need to be admitted to hospital after eating raw oysters. The symptoms only appear 4 to 5 days after eating the raw oysters which is quite weird. That day I vomited 16 times 🤮🤢 which was the record for me.
Raw oysters are more potent so luckily all of you are ok now, no need to be admitted like my sil.

    2. Ya it is really terrible. I threw out everything inside my stomach until only acid water kept throwing out. Really nothing inside already.
Must be the same with U too.
Glad that it is over now phew 😅

  3. I hardly eat raw oysters unless in hotel buffet, but usually only took one coz i'm not a fan. So far i've not encounter any mishap. Many years ago i watched a Mr.Bean series where he took lotsa raw oysters and ended up with diarrhea, ruining his perfect holiday.

    1. I have whacked more than 2 oysters at buffets before without any mishap. Totally didn't expect this to happen.

    2. I have eaten oysters at Shucks! Eatery. That one seems ok. Maybe they checked their oysters
