Day trip to Ulu Yam

The kids had a whole long weekend where for one reason or another, classes for gymrama/art/swimming were off.  These come very rarely so must take advantage of it. :)

Off we went to Ulu Yam.  It was less than an hours' drive that day.  First was the world of orchids which I had noticed people posting about on FB.  Oh this was nice!  Well done up and green.

The cafe gets a thumbs up from us.  Good coffee, good cakes and this waffle too.  (The assam laksa was average though).  Prices were KL-standard but quality was worth it.  I'd happily visit very often if it was nearer home.  SE announced "This has been a good day!" after happily tucking into the waffle.

Next destination was supposed to be the guava farm.  But apparently fruits weren't in season until October so this place wasn't open.  Take a few photos since we were there...

Lunch obviously included the signature "lor mee" and fishcake.  Had it at Swee Yen, a shop on this road where every shop seemed to sell the same thing.  No pictures of food hehe.

There was a temple nearby but weather was too hot, didn't bother to go.  Just walked up to this colourful wall in front for a picture.

After that we headed to the waterfall.  Well Waze showed three in the vicinity.  I picked the nearest one even though the other two had the same travel times.  And this was why this nearest one takes the same time to get there.... this one-track road for all of 3 kms!  Rather scary not knowing when an oncoming car would appear round a bendy part of the road.

Overall a decent day trip.  I wished there were just a couple more places we could go visit.  Or even something to buy.  Hopefully someone sets up something soon.
