Eating or watching TV

Sometimes the places we go for meals have TVs showing cartoons.  The kids enjoy that. But this happens...

Watch watch watch

At least SE is not so addicted.  Oh wait...

Watch watch watch

They were not even at our table but went over to a nearby empty one with a better view of the TV.  This was at Morganfields.

Making Tong yuen

(Kept this post for a while... This happened a while ago around the Mid-autumn festival)

As usual, the kids think of this as one giant Playdoh activity....

Nice and round!

We are all busy

Fruit of our labour

The aftermath

Disaster this year though.  The balls wouldn't float when cooked.  Until my mother realised she'd used rice flour instead of the glutinous version.  We didn't eat any balls this year.  So as tradition goes, we DON'T get a year older right?  Hehe.  At least the kiddos still had their fun.

Goodbye Swimming

On top of stopping gymrama, kiddos have also stopped swimming.  The Basic course is structured in such a way that each stroke must be passed before moving on to the next - freestyle, backstroke, breast-stroke and butterfly.  JE breezed through the first three and got stuck a while at butterfly.  She just didn't have the upper body strength to 'fly' properly.  I kept her there since SE was still halfway through an earlier stroke.

After JE finally passed butterfly, she moved on to the next course which was Stroke Correction,  Now this was a lot tougher than Basic. She sobbed at the end of the first day.  Had to bribe her to continue another 3 months heh.

Swim swim swim

Meanwhile, SE reached the final stroke of butterfly.  As expected, she was struggling through. I figured she would take ages to pass (or maybe not at all).  So stopped her after a few weeks.

JE continued on the Stroke Correction and was doing pretty ok.  But this class was moved from night (8- 930pm) to morning (10am-12noon).  Her face turned several shades darker with a whiter area around the eyes where the goggles sit.  So... for vanity sake, decided to stop her also.

Bye swimming class! Pbbttth!

So compared to last year, 2 classes gone.  Just to remind myself of the previous full schedule:

Sat:   1pm - 230pm Gymrama, 4-6pm Art, 8-9.30pm JE swimming
Sun: 8-10am SE swimming.

I drove them for everything since hubby complained they had too many things on and refused to involve himself much.  Not easy since I frequently had to work weekends as well.

Tongue rolls

JE can do this:

This is a tongue

A tongue can roll

Can also make TWO rolls

Also, THREE rolls

Heh.  (No, I can't do this also.  Can only make ONE roll)

Balloons at the mall

We saw this clown making balloons in the mall.  It was definitely much quieter than usual during our visit last week.  People must be staying home due to the coronavirus.

I went away to look in a bakery (I love bakeries!) and came back to see SE having a very nice bird balloon.

This is a special bird

JE was getting hers made.  She was pleased with it too.

Oh this is nice

It's a butterfly but much nicer than those normally made.

A big butterfly!

Wonder what else that clown could do!  Hopefully will encounter him again.  JE wanted to get something else but decided better to let others have a chance.  Also he did take a little longer to come up with these creations.

We have nice balloons

CNY Last post

One last post on CNY.  We headed over to a dinner at my boss' house. Probably my last visit since I'd already tendered my resignation.

Mmmmm

Small girl picking stuff off the floor haha.

Pick pick

We also managed to check out the deco at IPC.

Hup uppp!

Made it to the top

Here's to a happy year of the Rat!

Must say it's an interesting twist on the deco, for people to view from a rat's point of view.  The rat does make for a lot of cute interpretations.  I should appreciate it more since it's MY animal!  (Yeah getting old already...)

I'm on a giant chair!

Take picture with cute rat

Royal Selangor visit

Two days left of CNY holidays and off we went to Royal Selangor.  We are maximising these holidays!  Also it's terribly hot staying at home.

This is where we went

We got an audio device and headset each.  There were two tour buses when we were there and they had a human guide for each group.  But we liked the personal audio devices as the kids hadn't had these before.

We have nifty equipment

The devices activated at various points to provide information.  Well actually they didn't always activate but you could look at the number and press the relevant section yourself.  (Except I had to keep doing it for SE who was having problem after problem. Like the headset falling off her head, sound too low, section not activated, not being tall enough to see something, asking a dozen questions... *roll eyes*)

I am a nuisance, yes I am

There was quite a bit to see and do, and overall interactive enough for the kids.

Room of chimes

Hall of frames

Hall of hands

The whole tour was free.  It ended at the souvenir shop - of course pewter is expensive and a small cup cost easily RM100.  We didn't buy anything but spent money in the cafe instead.  Now this was nice!
Nice environment

Food was good and reasonably priced.  I'd be happily returning just to eat if it had been nearer for us.

Our lunch
(excuse the half-eaten items heh)

Of course part of the tour was publicity for the company.  Still, well worth a visit.
