Toys and iPad

This is a pic of JE on her bed. Those are only part of the soft toys we have, there are more not in the picture.

I am busy

Photo from another day... JE likes soft toys and keeps wanting more. But how to play with so many right?  Some are actively played with and many are not.  And as in both photos here show, she is on the iPad instead.

Too busy for my toys...

The toys are of course cleared away for bed-time.

More online learning

Challenges continue with the small girl.  She takes a VERY long time to finish assignments.  Most of this time is spent kicking, moaning, moping, complaining and general avoidance of actually doing the assignment.

Good thing our maid Jane has started to take on SE's homework as part of her duties.  After a whole day of persuading, scolding and threatening... she would report, "TWO assignments done already".  There would be some outstanding as Jane can't help on the Chinese part.

Then at nights, I will take on the other assignments.

Su Ern, come do your Maths.

I want to delete Google Classroom

Su Ern!  Bablablabla - I also fedup of saying the same things.  You can see her fingers coming out to count.

My teachers are bad. And crazy

Ah pek version now.

Why do I have SO MUCH homework

After all the effort, both Jane and myself will be tired out.

MCO Post #8

Made these 'gong zai peng' or fish mooncakes.  The first time I tried, they turned out hard and I dubbed them 'rockfish'.  I did eventually finish them though.  This second time, they turned out much better.  I didn't have enough golden syrup and substituted with some honey.  Maybe that was the secret?
Ahmm

Actually JE is just posing as instructed for the photo.  She doesn't like a lot of types of food and isn't a fan of these.

"Baked Fish" - slightly pale but I didn't want them turning into rock again

What else did we do... order pizza.  Actually this was my first time ordering pizza for home.  We all aren't super-keen on pizza so it's more for a change of food since we couldn't eat out.

Pizza

I have always liked the smoked deli wings though so enjoyed the meal overall.

Eat up

Crabs for dinner

One of my best buys during MCO - crabs!  Hubby is a big fan.  I like them well enough but am too lazy to de-shell them so would normally just have the roe and the claws. The advert by Piau Kee popped up on Facebook.  I called and delivery charges would be RM40.  Hmmm nah too high.  Then on Mother's Day, they called to say there was another delivery to my area so charges would be halved to RM20.  Ok, on. :)

What did mummy order THIS time??

I was out when delivery arrived. JE said Jane went online to find out what to do with them haha.  About RM50 for an XXL crab, RM23 for a roe crab.  I added RM25 for a kg of sea clams at hubby's suggestion (no regrets, the sea clams were very good).

Big crabs, roe crabs and sea clams

Everything was lovely and fresh. Just cleaned and threw them onto charcoal.  Jane cleaned and hubby cooked.  Well I had done my part buying the crab and it WAS Mother's day hmmppf.

Mummy asked us to pose with the crab
(Notice that SE is behind JE)

Even the roe crabs were large.

Roe crab on a dinner plate

Delicious indeed.  Hubby was already asking how to get for next time.  I'm not sure if these deals would be available after MCO.

Feel-better card from SE

While I was in the throes of working, SE came to deliver this card. They were playing with colourful pipe-cleaners that day.  She says the face was supposed to be smiling but the bottom bit got stuck on crooked and couldn't be moved.

Hi!

There was a pipe-cleaner in the pocket (not in picture) with instructions how to twist it into a bracelet.

Follow these instructions

And at the back, was a group of these singing a happy song.

Happy song oh happy song. Happy day!

I must focus on the positives in my life.  :)

SE's birthday 2020

(Oh forgot to post this.  SE's birthday is on May 9)

SE turned 8!  Still within the MCO with all the restrictions.  First, she wanted McDonald's for lunch.

McDonald's is always yummy!

We have moved on to 'CMCO' (Conditional Movement Control Order) and our regular cake shop has opened.  Phew, decent cakes which could be bought by just dropping into the shop and selecting one - never appreciated this  convenience before!  I didn't bring SE along though.  She wanted a chocolate cake.

My chocolate birthday cake!

A picture of us.  In house clothes and house-style haha.

Happy birthday to me

Let me read what it says...

Happy Birthday to Su Ern!  May this little one never grow too old for hugs and kisses.  And to be less difficult in school (heh heh).  Love her forever, no conditions!

Little toys from McD

What do we have this morning... a small pack of toy waiting at each place.  (Oh, breakfast was sushi rice with seaweed and tobiko).

Waiting

The girls have arrived from upstairs!

The unwrapping

What do you have?

A flamingo!

A goldfish!

Excuse the uncombed hair haha.  I had bought the flamingo ages back, to be given to SE only after she caught up on her Google assignments.  It took... 2 weeks for her to catch up.  JE was fine so received her goldfish the moment it came out.

(SE's front teeth are starting to portrude when they were previously straight.  Makes her look like a bunny.  I suppose they must be falling out but they are REALLY taking their time!)

MCO Post #7

I continue to find enjoyment in the sourcing, procurement and consumption of food.  Hehe.  Roughly in that sequence in terms of time spent.

Apparently durian season is starting.  Ordered two types but only one type arrived.  The seller reduced the delivery charges so ok-lah.  Too bad this wasn't all too nice.  It was ripe, not spoilt, just that taste was a bit bland.  Once bitten twice shy so now I'm not keen to order more durian.

This is D24

Another item, dim sum!  After looking around, decided to order these frozen ones from Shopee.  It was an 'interesting' experience.  The seller shipped from Johor very fast.  Then day after day we waited for it.  Anxious since this was FROZEN food.  While the seller has a guarantee that items will not be spoilt, and I did see a review saying seller replaced a spoilt order, it wouldn't be pleasant to receive a boxful of food that had gone bad.

Day 1, shipped.  Day 2, not yet arrived.  Day 3, still not yet.  Day 4 morning, messaged the seller who checked and said don't worry, item had been sent out from the last point and should reach me soon on that day.  Waited waited.  The box arrived after 6pm.  I must have been the very last delivery for the day!

Opened the box... hmm items and ice packs partially melted, partially still frozen.  I'm impressed.  Cooked and ate the dim sum, no stomach-ache.  Hahaha... considered all good then!  Had this twice already and still have some balance in the freezer.

Ready for dim sum?

Online learning challenges

Challenges continue with the small girl.  She takes a VERY long time to finish assignments.  Most of this time is spent kicking, moaning, moping, complaining and general avoidance of actually doing the assignment.

Su Ern! Faster come and look at your Google classroom.

*Mope

Su Ern!  Like this you won't have any time to play iPad.  By the time finish it will be bedtime.

* Stubborn stare

Su Ern! Come here!  Do you want to spend the whole night on this assignment The earlier you start, the earlier you finish.
* Not moving

Su Ern!
* Doing the ostrich

Gngngngnnn.  A short assignment can take a few days to complete.  She's practically on the Google classroom every day since weekends are spent catching up on weekday work.  She thinks there are some assignments still undone.  Tracking the status on the app isn't the easiest, so I'm just going to leave those be.  Her assignments are mostly or all done as far as I can see.
